Course Objectives:

This is an introductory course that is conducted entirely in German. The goals for this semester are:

·      To be able to understand, speak, write and read in the present, future and past tenses about such topics as you and your family, food, travel, hobbies, your daily present and past activities and your environment. Emphasis will also be placed on how to interact with different people in different contexts.

·      To be able to write short compositions about the topics above, without the use of a dictionary.

·      To become acquainted with German and Francophone customs, history and civilization on a simple scale.

·      To develop a deeper understanding and appreciation for your own culture as well as others.

 

Prerequisite :
-A beginning level course designed for students who have no prior knowledge of German.
-One should be Germanophile.

 

Course Description:
It offers an introduction to the German language and culture with an emphasis on the acquisition of vocabulary and grammatical concepts through active communication. The course is conducted entirely in German, and students interact in German with their classmates from the very beginning. They also receive exposure to the language via a variety of authentic sources such as the Internet, audio, video and printed materials which help them develop cultural awareness as well as linguistic proficiency.
